Six Point Subscriptions Floods in Central Tarakan

. Minggu, 03 Juli 2011

RAIN rains flushed the Tarakan from morning until noon yesterday to lead to flooding at some point. One of the worst point that until now there has been no attempt to deal with is the flood that covered the road in most Jalan Diponegoro, Sebengkok.

Camat Middle Tarakan, Hendra Arfandi admitted, there are at least six points subscribed to flooding in the working area. Namely in Sebengkok Tiram, Jalan Diponegoro, Jalan RE Regis High School front of Hang Tuah, Jalan Sulawesi Markoni, seputaran Stadium Datu Adil, and Jalan KH Agus Salim Selumit.

"Actually, have attempted to do the cleaning-cleaning, but not maximized," said Hendra Arfandi.

Former district head North Tarakan was also suggested, one of the short-term effort that can be done to minimize the flooding is still there must be creation of new canals. Because the canals there are currently less in width and no longer.

The issue will be deployed when the heavy equipment, the canal Sebengkok for example, has many residents in the settlements around it so the tool can not work optimally. "The result is a sedimentation," said Hendra after doing the monitoring to the locations of the flood yesterday morning.

According to Hendra, floods that occurred in this region due to many factors. "First because it is a small canal, canals, both because of tidal water and the third factor because of deforestation in the upstream," he said.

However, cleanup efforts continue to be encouraged environmental drainage districts with the mutual aid activities by involving citizens. "But this time the rain could not be determined. If rain is right tide, the water can not flow into the sea and as a result of rain water and tidal water overflowed to the ground, "he explained.

However, Hendra added, it was still hoped that the programs that run the government to minimize the flood still has the support of citizens. One that is needed is awareness of the citizens not to throw garbage in the canals, including building homes in the watershed.

"It is important, so government programs that will not conflict with these problems," the message.

Radar monitoring of Tarakan in Jalan Diponegoro Sebengkok yesterday, the cusp height of the water in front of Elementary School 004 had reached a man's thigh.

"It's fitting that the tide can be up to the waist mas aja pas fortunately low tide receding so fast too," said Nur, one of the locals.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Station Juata Tarakan noted yesterday rainfall reached 58.9 mm. "Including high, because up to (cause, Ed.) Flood," said Yos Safa'at, Tarakan Juata Meteorological Station staff. (Ddq)
